• Journal article
  • Based on the Derrida’s work On Hospitality, and different forms of temporality such as unpredictability, ‘slowability’, immeasurability, anticipation, serendipity, and surprise in higher music education.
  • The article is based on the idea of higher music education and social transformation related to unpredictability, collectiveness and meaningful pedagogical interactions which are not sacrificed to measurable outcomes, economy, and politics.
  • It emphasises the importance of pedagogical responsibility for ‘Other’ through constant creation of open social spaces for collaborations and interactions that always surprise learners. In that way, the learner has constant activity and awareness of many realities, as well as attentiveness to the others.
  • Useful for all institutional leaders and educators in higher music education institutions who want to rethink their purpose, values, and quality.
